NewEnglandFilm.com is excited to announce the launch of the 2021 Online New England Film Retrospective. The retrospective features shorts from filmmakers of diverse backgrounds, each with a unique story to tell, who have ties in some form to the New England region. This free event will take place entirely on NewEnglandFilm.com’s website. Feel free to check out their website for more information on the retrospective, as well as the roster of featured shorts.

NewEnglandFilm.com has launched the 2021 Online New England Film Festival Retrospective to showcase over two dozen short films from the past two decades of the website and festival online to watch for free now through October 15, 2021. The retrospective include five films featured in the earliest days of NewEnglandFilm.com’s magazine, before its online festival launch—The Blinking Madonna and Other Miracles (1996 Beth Harrington); Repetition Compulsion (1997 Ellie Lee); Holy Tortilla (1998 Lauren Ivy Chiong); My Father’s Story (1998 Mary Kocol); Celebration (2008 Daniel Stedman).

Viewers will discover and re-discover films from diverse backgrounds that touch on a range of subject matter, from adoption to unearthed family secrets and even a messianic tortilla. The 2021 Online New England Film Festival Retrospective is organized in a series of showcases or you can browse all the films here. The full line-up is below.

This event traces NewEnglandFilm.com’s extensive history of highlighting the works of filmmakers with ties to the region by pulling together some of the best films that have been featured on the site in over two decades. The retrospective takes place entirely on NewEnglandFilm.com’s website and will primarily focus on shorts from the 1990’s and early 2000’s. There is no fee required to view the films that are featured, and NewEnglandFilm.com will be adding interviews with the filmmakers during the duration of the festival.
