Life seemed ideal until the family faced its worst nightmare: a second generation of Curran children would lose their father to illness. In ADRIFT, filmmaker Tom Curran gives us a visually stunning and emotionally searing feature-length portrait of how he and his family members have remained trapped in their father’s dreams of success.

The Expeditionist

In 1903, my grandfather, Vaughan, attempted to reach the North Pole with photographer/commander Anthony Fiala on the Ziegler Expedition. Their ship was lost; they never reached the Pole. In spite of insubordination and a mysterious death, Fiala created photographs and the first arctic film. A century later, my artistic pilgrimage across the dangerous, beautiful Franz Josef Land redeems their ill-fated journey.
