Celebrate Wicked Queer April 8–18—Boston’s LGBTQ+ Film Festival will be held virtually, in collaboration with the Brattle Theatre and Paramount Theatre. Screenings include Bound, Boy Meets Boy, and Everything at Once. View the full festival schedule and learn more here.

The Vermont Natural Resources Council presents the Wild & Scenic Film Festival on April 8 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. The virtual evening of short films will include a raffle. Learn more and register here.

Industry Buzz

Stowe Story Awards announced the semifinalists for NewEnglandFilm Fellows, which includes eight producers, writers, and filmmakers from Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Vermont. See all the 2021 finalists.

Academy Award nominations were announced last month. Nominees with New England connections include Rhode Island native Viola Davis, nominated for Best Actress; and Sound of Metal, which was shot in Massachusetts. The Oscars will take place on April 25. See the full list of nominees here.

Boston’s Chlotrudis Society for Independent Film Awards held a virtual awards ceremony last month. Winners included Portrait of a Lady on Fire for Best Movie, Eliza Hittman for Best Director, Riz Ahmed and Levan Gelbakhiani for Best Actor, and Sidney Flanagan for Best Actress.
