What’s Happening

The Tribeca Film Festival in NY this month (through May 7) features several New England filmmakers — Connecticut native Joe Halderman’s Three Days in September; The War Tapes by Deborah Scranton from Goshen, NH; and Vermont native, Samuel Dowe-Sandes’ Out of the Woods.  In addition, Josh Schwartz, The O.C. creator and the host of the Breaking the Band panel discussion, is originally from Providence, RI.  For more information, visit www.tribecafilmfestival.org

The MFA Film Program and The Boston Jewish Film Festival are pleased to present a series of eight encores of the best-loved films from the November 2005 Boston Jewish Film Festival, May 28 through July 6. Theodore Collatos, an award-winning Massachusetts filmmaker, will be premiering his feature length film The Chosen One on May 13th 9:30 pm at The Berkshire International Film Festival at the Triplex Cinema in Great Barrington, MA. 

What’s Happened

Devlo Media has recently earned national recognition taking home top honors in five categories at the 27th Annual Telly Awards. Additionally, Devlo Media has been nominated in four categories in the upcoming New England Emmy Awards. The winning spots can be found online at their website www.devlomedia.com

Heartwood Media, a Manchester NH based TV commercial and video production company, has been awarded two Tellys in the 27th Annual Telly Awards — one for a television commercial for Mediastream and another for a promotional video entitled Heroes Of All Sizes, which Heartwood Media produced for The Nature Conservancy, New Hampshire Chapter. Remembering John Marshall premiered on April 5th as part of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston’s tribute to Documentary Educational Resources (DER) (www.der.org). The 16-minute film by Alice Apley and David Tamés presents a brief portrait of John Kennedy Marshall (1932-2005), whose extensive filmography begins with The Hunters (1957) and culminates with A Kalahari Family (2003). Remembering John Marshall will be distributed by DER.

What Will Happen…

Kreating Karloff a documentary about Boris Karloff’s life will shoot at Tripeg Studios in Hamden, CT this month.  For information on Tripeg Studios, visit www.tripegstudios.com.   The creative and technical team behind such films as Dangerous Crosswinds, Old Man Dogs and the upcoming Death & Glory will offer the Digital Filmmaking Workshop, a presentation focused on independent filmmaking in the 21st century.  The workshop takes place in Manchester, New Hampshire on May 6-7.  For more information, visit www.digitalfilmmakingworkshop.com.
