New Hampshire Writers’ Project hosts a Writers’ Day conference, with over 30 prestigious presenters and panelists and 24 different presentations. Writers of all genres and levels of experience will gather on March 25, 2006, at Southern New Hampshire University in Manchester, for a day of learning, sharing, and socializing. Nominations for the 12th annual Chlotrudis Awards, which honor foreign and independent films, were voted upon by the group’s membership earlier this month.  The 2005 edition will be held Sunday March 19 at the historic Brattle Theater in Harvard Square, and the public is invited to join Chlotrudis members & friends, nominees and special guests in the celebration.  Visit http://www.chlotrudis.org for more information.

After serving seven years as Artistic Director of the Provincetown International Film Festival, Connie White leaves her position at to devote full time to her film booking, distribution and consulting company, Balcony Film. She will continue her involvement with the Festival by joining PIFF’s Advisory Board. A new, free online performing arts marketplace launched called www.MatchBook.org.  The website matches New England’s performing artists — from actors and musicians to dancers and poets — with the wide variety of presenters, including theaters, schools, arts organizations, libraries, clubs, coffeehouses and community centers that book them to perform.

The Sopranos recently arrived in Boston to shoot scenes for its 2006 season. The location was reportedly Dillons Russian Steam Bath in Chelsea, MA.

Screenings for the Boston Irish Film Series — now in its sixth year — will begin at Boston College on the eve of St. Patrick’s Day (March 16) with Rebel Frontier, introduced by Director Desmond Bell, and followed by a reception. From the creative and technical team behind such films as Dangerous Crosswinds, Old Man Dogs and the upcoming Death & Glory comes The Digital Filmmaking Workshop, an extensive two-day seminar in Maywhich focuses on teaching students how they can successfully produce, market and screen their own digital films. The Boston Museum of Fine Arts pays tribute to local film distribution company Documentary Educational Resources on their 35th Anniversary with a screening series from April 5-30. Women in Film & Video/New England holds its 2006 Image Awards Gala biannual fundraiser on Wednesday, March 22, 2006, at the Boston Marriott Copley Place Hotel. The event this year not only raises funds to help support WIFV/ NE’s mission, but also marks the New England chapter’s 25th anniversary.
