This past month, the Boston Film / Video Foundation ceased to exist in its former state. On February 5th, the BFVF board completed an agreement that allows the Boston Educational Film & Video Association, located at Film Shack, of Roxbury, to take over BFVF’s remaining assets, including the New England Film & Video Festival, which will be presented later this year. Connecticut will provide locations for Mean Time Productions’ next feature, "Welcome to Earth," a sci-fi dramedy which will be shooting late summer/early fall of 2004. In addition, "You Are Alone," a dark psychological feature drama will shoot this summer in the state.

Creative Capital’s 2004-05 film grant submission process has begun, and individual artists may now submit Inquiry Forms for grants in the fields of Visual Arts and Film/Video. Deadline is March 15, 2004. For more information, visit www.creative-capital.org

Have you ever wondered if your idea could make it as a TV show?  If so, WGBH Local Productions invites you to enter your concept to the 6:55 Contest, detailed at www.wgbh.org/producingfortv. Winners will be offered a grant or technical support to produce a short video story or a pilot for a new program concept — of about six minutes and 55 seconds in duration. The Contest is open to area filmmakers, artists and other creative types — including those with no TV experience.

"Tibet- Pearl of the Himalayas" a film by Elmer Hawkes, will be shown at the Zeitgeist Gallery, 1353 Cambridge Street Cambridge, on Monday night March 8th at 7 P.M. The film explores various Tibetan cities, visits the Mount Everest Base Camp, examines the nation’s history and ponders Tibet’s uncertain future. The Maine Jewish Film Festival will take place March 13-18, 2004 in Portland Maine. In addition to all of the screenings, there will be a Women Filmmakers Forum, a Youth Program, and a Gay and Lesbian Program. For details please visit http://www.mjff.org

The 7th annual Green Mountain Film Festival will be held March 19-28. 2004 in Montpelier, VT. The festival includes 26 selected films, half features and half documentaries. Also, on March 27, 2004 the Vermont Filmmakers Forum & The Vermont Film Commission will present a panel discussion on contemporary independent film distribution at the Green Mountain Film Festival. Panelists include New Englanders Ken Eisen, of Shadow Distribution, The Railroad Square Cinema, and The Maine International Film Festival, and John O’Brien, Director of "Vermont is for Lovers," "Man With A Plan" and "Nosey Parker." The Coolidge Corner Theater’s Director’s Cut series will screen Boston filmmaker Pamela Corkey’s film "Easy Listening" on March 15, 2004. The film explores the world of easy listening music. The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston presents three films for all ages in March for their ART Alive series. "Her Majesty," "The King’s Beard," and "Making Music, Making Friends" will all be shown in The Remis Auditorium at the MFA. Please visit http://www.mfa.or  for more information.

The Chicks Make Flicks series will continue this month with a screening of Laurel Greenburg’s film "94 Years and 1 Nursing Home Later" on March 10, 2004 at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
