Actors Workshop, Boston Film Festival, ShowBiz Expo

Massachusetts

The Annual Boston Film Festival on September 5-18 will include 55 feature films and 18 shorts. The films include Sundance hits The House of Yes, Sick, and Sunday. The locally produced, The North End, directed by Frank Ciota wll also be shown. Screenings will be held at Sony Copley Place and Kendall Square Cinema. Tickets are $8 and discount books are available for $70. The Opening Night party on September 5 will be held at the Lenox Hotel at 710 Boylston Street (tickets cheap NFL jerseys $25). Massachusetts Film Office is accepting entries for its 2nd annual Locations Photo Competition. Applications and rules are available by calling 617-973-8800. The deadline is October 2. http://www.magnet.state.ma.us/film/contest.htm

Vermont

The Green Mountain Independent Film Festival 1997 to be held on November 7-13, 1997 is accepting 16mm and 35mm independent films of all genres. An entry form with your name, address, film title and category must be accompanied by a 1/2" VHS tape and $20 (payable to Green Research, Inc.). Rhode Island

Michael Corrente will soon begin pre production for his film: Outside Providence. The primary location for Y this film will be the Cranston Street Armory. Casting call info will be posted soon.

CenterCity Artisans Galleries is showcasing Rhode Island Filmmakers  through September 13 at the Arcade on 65 Weybosset Street in Providence. A different film will be shown every afternoon. Maine

Maine’s production community will soon have its own professional organization that will help promote film, TV, video and other media in the state. It will be open to Maine-based production professionals. The new Maine producers group will work with the Maine Film Commission and Maine Film Office on marketing, education and Internet projects.
