Director(s) Bio:: Jessie Beers-Altman is a Boston-based filmmaker and graduate of Boston University's MFA Film Production program.

As a storyteller, Jessie focuses on human-interest stories about people who are marginalized, march to a different beat, or seek to exist outside of their prescribed roles. Her award-winning film, "The Spirit of a Runner" (2009), profiled ultrarunner Suprabha Beckjord in the Sri Chinmoy Self-Transcendence 3,100-Mile Race. Jessie also co-wrote and edited "A Seat at the Table" (2012), an educational documentary that explored the reality of today's glass ceiling, and how it affects the number of women in significant leadership roles. In 2011, Jessie was the Assistant Editor of "The Last Mountain," a documentary on the activism against mountaintop-removal coal mining in Appalachia. The film was an official selection at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival.

In addition to her busy schedule as a filmmaker, Jessie is a lecturer at Boston University and Emerson College. She is also an active member of the Non-Fiction Cartel, a working collaborative that supports short form documentary media-making in New England.
