Event Location: Cost: FREE Vinfen’s Moving Images Film Festival is the only festival of its kind in the Boston area. The goal of this unique event is to combat the stigma too often associated with mental illness and developmental disabilities that affect more than 160,000 individuals in the Commonwealth. The festival, which runs on Saturday, March 28 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m., is free and open to the public. Free parking is available at the venue: Joseph B. Martin Conference Center at Harvard Medical School, 77 Avenue Louis Pasteur, Boston. Ranging from a three-minute short to feature length presentations, a total of eight films will be shown on two screens. Feature films include Hidden Wounds—a documentary that uncovers the psychological wounds suffered by three New England veterans returning home from the Iraq war produced by award winning local filmmaker Iris Adler—and Cracking Up—an award-winning documentary that follows 11 people with mental illness who embark on a quirky quest to become stand-up comics. David Granirer, author and stand-up comic who suffers from depression, will perform his hilarious stand up comedy routine after the screening. Panel discussions will follow each film. Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are available. The conference center is wheelchair accessible. At 5:00 p.m., a cocktail reception will round out the day with complimentary hors d'oeuvres, a cash bar and an art display featuring works by Vinfen’s Gateway Arts and Webster House artists.
