What are you looking for when choosing which films you select?

Unique Character, risks in filmmaking and a level of technical skill to set it apart.

What are your biggest pet peeves from filmmakers?

– Unsolicited submissions (not following our standard submission protocol).
– Not including all materials requested in submission process (press kit, active contact email).

What is your advice for filmmakers looking to apply to your festival, or to others?

Apply early and stay connected year round for other opportunities we provide beyond our August Festival season.

What is your advice to audience goers for how best to enjoy your festival?

Do some research. Our films and filmmakers made the cut for good reason. Checking out screeners online, visiting their social media sites will make you feel like you already know the filmmaker and actors before you take your seat at KFF!
