The May 18th Legal Seminar will cover the rights, releases, licenses and agreements required by film and media makers to distribute their projects – including planning for festival and theatrical exhibition, broadcast, internet and other distribution. The panel will address legal and business issues that arise during the development and production process.

Are you interested in learning the art of sketch comedy writing for television? Using sketches from TV and the Web as examples, students will learn about scene structure, writing dialogue, and popular sketch formats. Students will be encouraged to produce writing that is unique, inspired, and funny, using improvisation as a tool to brainstorm sketch ideas. The sketches will be videotaped for cablecast on SCATV, and screening at Somerville Open Cinema in May.

This workshop will showcase new lighting and power generation technology, like the Honda EU6500is and EB10000 generators, the Arrimax M40 & M18 HMIs, Arri & Litepanel LED Fresnels, and the Kino Flo Tegra and Parabeam fixtures. Together, this new technology makes it possible to operate more and brighter lights on portable Honda generators and house power than has ever been possible before – eliminating the need for dangerous tie-ons or expensive diesel generators.

There are lots of books and workshops about “proper” techniques for lighting video, but how far we can push the limits of technology is a much more interesting topic. This one-day workshop with noted Focal Press Author and ETCP trainer Richard Cadena will explore the lines and limits of lighting video using state-of-the-art technology including LEDs and automated lighting.
