The 13th Annual Irish Film Festival, Boston will kick off Thursday, March 22 at the Brattle Theater in Cambridge followed by three days at Somerville Theatre.
The festival will be a curated showcase of the Best of Irish contemporary cinema including Director's Choice Winner "Stella Days" and John Ford's classic film "The Quiet Man." This year, more than 3,000 people are expected to attend over the course of the four days.

No Look Pass

The Bluestocking Film Series - Films by Women - premiered last October to a sold-out crowd at the St. Lawrence Arts Center. The screening series' mission is to bring women’s films to audiences in Portland, Maine. The next screening will happen on Sunday, May 20, 2012, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at the St. Lawrence.

Lesbian Film Festival, presented by Out! For Reel LGBT Film Series, will offer a variety of award-winning films in two separate shows. The first show, 5:15 pm, will present "Kiss Me", the new lesbian hit film from Sweden. The second show, 7:20 pm, will screen "Best Lesbian Shorts: Love & Friendship" and the new short documentary, "T'Aint Nobody's Bizness: Queer Blues Divas of the 1920s."

David Grossman's book about a youth coming of age in Israel amidst a very dysfunctional family and neighborhood hits the silver screen in this New England premiere. Winner of an award at the 2010 Jerusalem Film Festival.

Distinguished director Márta Mészáros’ film reflects political repression, love, exile and memory. As a member of the Hungarian Parliament, Anna Kethly was an outspoken critic of Jewish racial laws. After the 1956 Soviet invasion, she flees to Belgium, but the government wants her to return home decades later. Will she return to the land she loved?

Lenin in October: Grisha is about to realize his dream of opening up a restaurant thanks to inheriting money from his uncle in Kiev. But there's just one problem - he must find a bust of Lenin and display it at the restaurant in Ashdod, Israel. Try finding it in Israel! In Hebrew and Russian with subtitles.

American dancer and choreographer Anna Halprin revolutionized modern dance working with the likes of Merce Cuningham and Trisha Brown. In this documentary, Halprin, now in her 90s, is vibrant and lively in talking about her life, experimental dance and dance therapy.

In the tradition of 21 Grams and Crash, writer-director Alon Zingman skillfully interweaves four stories. Three of them begin at dawn: a young woman returning from Peru is met by her father at Ben Gurion airport; a duty-free shop employee ends her shift; and an Argentinean woman and her school-age son board a bus for his circumcision at a Tel Aviv hospital. All meet – or nearly meet – by dusk, when day shifts to night. A hit-and-run car accident is the catalyst for much of the action.

Victor Kaufman and Rudi Smekal grow up friends in Vienna although they come from very different backgrounds. The Nazis change all their relationship forever, and a plane crash ensures that life will never be the same. A woman, who knows both of them quite well, gets in the middle and must make a moral choice.

Dolphin Boy tells the harrowing story of Morad, a 17-year-old Arab Israeli, who suffers a trauma and goes mute. Therapy doesn't work, so he ends up going to Eilat for "dolphin therapy" where he interacts and swims with dolphins to re-enter society. The documentary was nominated for an Ophir (Israeli Academy Award) for Best Documentary.

The documentary Zubin and I finds filmmaker Ori Sivan on the shy side as he pursues a chance to interview conducting great Zubin Mehta, conductor for life of the Israeli Philharmonic Orchestra. This offers a fascinating look into Mehta’s thinking along with a lot of humor thanks to Sivan.

Joan & Verne's Wedding: After 25 years of marriage to a man, Verne met Joan, and it was love at first sight. They lived together for 18 years, but wanted to tie the knot. They wanted a Jewish wedding. Theirs was the first same-sex marriage performed by a rabbi in South Africa.

Can a blind man in Argentina help find Eichmann? Israeli agents don’t think so, but truth could be stranger than fiction in this film that mixes documentary and re-enactments. Eichmann dictates his memoirs to a sympathetic journalist in this recounting of the story of Eichmann and his capture by Israel. Presented by The Boston Jewish Film Festival.

Aneta Brodski, an Israeli teen living in Queens, enters the world of deaf slam poetry to express herself. Along the way, she meets up with a deaf Palestinian Israeli student, and the two later perform together.

Aneta Brodski and director Judy Lieff both will appear on Nov. 10.
