What defines Fair Trade? What is �sustainable living?� How do we as consumers play a positive role in the Global Economy? The City of Lowell�s 2nd Annual Film Festival faces these questions head-on with film programs & panel discussions on the issues of fair trade, garment production, sustainability, and food supply & demand in today�s complex global market. The MFA Computer Art Department at School of Visual Arts, the New York Digital Salon and the Department of Music and Multimedia Studies at Northeastern University present the New York premiere of the Visual Music Marathon , a 12-hour festival showcasing 120 works by contemporary digital artists and composers from around the world. The event offers an encyclopedic look into the burgeoning practice of visual music, which combines animation and musical composition.

Patsy Mink: Ahead of the Majority (USA, 2008, 56 min) – Boston Premiere

Mount Ida College is pleased to host its second annual film festival, 'Best of the Fest.' The festival will screen approximately fifteen award-winning films from the Garden State Film Festival (GSFF), including the Academy Award winning film A Note of Triumph: The Golden Age of Norman Corwin. The film selection also includes a variety of creative shorts produced by students at Mount Ida College.

The 18th Women's Film Festival will take place this year from March 13th to March 22nd in three downtown locations in Brattleboro, Vermont – the Latchis Theater, New England Youth Theater, and the Hooker-Dunham Theater & Gallery. The Festival will screen twenty-seven films from short documentaries to full-length features, most made by women. Films from around the world will bring to light urgent and engaging aspects of women’s lives and celebrate women’s achievements.

Detroit Shorts is a three-day community event, celebrating the finest examples of the cinematic short form by featuring films from around the globe with running times 10 minutes and under. The festival is open to the widest range of subject matter, genre and technique.

The festival takes place May 28-30, 2009 in the Broadway-Randolph District in Downtown Detroit.

The Screening Room is New London’s premier indie film festival featuring works from both emerging and established filmmakers. We are starting to collect entries for our 4th annual Short Shorts Film Festival!
The Duluth Play Ground would like to invite independent filmmakers nationwide to participate in our 4th Annual Short Shorts Film Festival. These short shorts, which must be no longer than 5 minutes, will be viewed by a panel of judges, and cash prizes will be awarded to the top 3 films.

Filmmakers are invited to submit their projects to ÉCU 2009!

The European Independent Film Festival (ÉCU) discovers, promotes and projects only the BEST independent films from around the world every year in Paris, France.

The festival is fast becoming known as Europe’s version of the Sundance Film Festival.

Approximately one hundred films will be selected to compete in thirteen categories including features, shorts, documentaries, animation, student films and experimental.
