The Third Annual Mount Ida College Film Festival will showcase a collection of the top award-winning documentaries, shorts, and animations that have been shown at the Garden State Film Festival (GSFF). The film lineup also includes a variety of creative shorts produced by Mount Ida College students.

Don't miss our kickoff event on Thursday, March 4 at 7pm. The festival will screen the film Notorious, which will be followed by a lecture and q/a discussion with the film writer Cheo Coker.

New England’s Emerging All-Documentary Film Festival

Entering just its third year, the Salem Film Fest is emerging as a leading American all-documentary film festival, showcasing a rich and diverse collection of the year's best work from all over the world.

The festival finds its spirit in Salem's history as the first great international city in America – establishing trade with the Far East and flooding this country with art, story, and culture from every continent.

The Filmshift Film Festival and screenplay competition is now accepting entries from both professional and Student filmmakers to screen in Somerville, Brookline, and Sudbury. Twenty percent of the festival’s gross ticket sales will be donated evenly to 2 non-profit groups: Christopher’s Haven (a local foundation that supports kids with cancer and their families,) and Metrowest Family Theater (an inclusive community theater group).

The Northampton Independent Film Festival (NIFF) will host an arousing night of independent film, presenting “Sex and Cinema” on Saturday, November 7, 2009 from 5pm-11pm at the Academy of Music in Northampton, MA.  The 15th annual independent film celebration will showcase three important independent films and a selection of short bonus films prior to each screening.  Filmmakers will be in attendance and available for Q&A and discussion. This is the first in a series of screenings that NIFF plans to present throughout the year.
 

The North End Music and Performing Arts Center (NEMPAC) will host its first annual Short Film Festival on Thursday, October 22nd at 7:00pm at the Hard Rock Café Boston located on 22-24 Clinton St. This unique event seeks to attract Boston residents, local artists, filmmakers and students.

The NEMPAC Short Film Festival’s Selection Committee reviewed over 50 films and chose the following films as the official film selections for the NEMPAC Short Film Festival:

The RooftopComedy.com Funny Film Competition is open to all current college students.

The Funny Film competition is back for its third competition this Fall Semester. Get your camera, grab some friends and make something funny.

Out! For Reel, the LGBT film series, kicks off its second season with the New England premiere of the new lesbian romantic comedy, And Then Came Lola.

A catered After Party will be held across the street from the Academy at the Northampton Center for the Arts ballroom, and will celebrate Out! For Reel’s first anniversary. The party begins at 9:30 p.m., immediately following the film.

Somerville Youth Film Festival

Somerville Community Access Television’s (SCAT) youth media program, Next Generation Producers, in collaboration with Somerville Cares About Prevention and Somerville High School, will hold the Third Annual Somerville Youth Film Festival on May 6 at 7:00pm at the Somerville Theatre in Davis Square. The Somerville Youth Film Festival is free and open to the public.

Andrew Bujalski (director of FUNNY HA HA and MUTUAL APPRECIATION) makes his return to Boston to show his new film, BEESWAX, at the Brattle Theatre at 7pm. Andrew will be in attendance for the Q&A.

Following that, CHIP ON MY SHOULDER, a documentary about the famed Boston hardcore band SLAPSHOT will have its World Premiere at the Brattle Theatre in Harvard Square at 9:45pm.

Come join us for the World Premiere of Boston filmmaker Amy Grill's fantastic documentary on techno music, SPEAKING IN CODE featuring many Boston locales and people. It's going to be a fun night!

Come join us for the New England Premiere of Jonathan Hock's great documentary THE LOST SON OF HAVANA. Subject and Red Sox pitching legend Luis Tiant will be in attendance for the Q&A as will narrator Chris Cooper and producers Bobby and Peter Farrelly. Other special guests are expected to appear as well. Get your tickets in advance on the festival website. This will be a hot ticket!

The Independent Film Festival of Boston closes with a bang with the film WORLD'S GREATEST DAD. This hilarious dark comedy starring Robin Williams could only come from the mind of director Bobcat Goldthwait. Bobcat will be in attendance for the screening. Don't miss this great one-time event!

The 7th Independent Film Festival of Boston will take place April 22-28 at the Somerville Theatre, the Brattle Theatre, the Coolidge Corner Theatre, and the ICA. Roughly 100 films will be shown and nightly parties will be held.

The Opening night film is Rian Johnson's THE BROTHERS BLOOM starring Mark Ruffalo, Adrien Brody, and Rachel Weisz. It will screen at 7:30pm at the Somerville Theatre on Wednesday April 22nd.

The Silk City Flick Fest will take place October 8 - 11, 2009 in historical Downtown Manchester, CT. The venue is open to all students and independent film makers worldwide. Think of it as an escape to the Quintessential New England town highlighting the Autumn beauty with indie movies, shorts, documentaries, parties and panel disucssions throughout the 4 day weekend! We are also offering a special category for Connecticut residents.

Vinfen’s Moving Images Film Festival is the only festival of its kind in the Boston area. The goal of this unique event is to combat the stigma too often associated with mental illness and developmental disabilities that affect more than 160,000 individuals in the Commonwealth.
